Consists of immobilized polymyxin B on 6B-CL. The polymyxins are a family of antibiotics that contain a cationic cyclopeptide with a fatty acid chain. Polymyxin B neutralizes the biological activity of endotoxins by binding to the lipid A portion of bacterial lipopolysaccharide. The immobilized polymixin B gel is a stable affinity matrix that resists leaching of ligand into the valuable preparation. Affisorbent™ Endotoxin Removing Gel can also be used to remove endotoxins from nucleic acid (DNA) samples.Polymyxin B- 6B-CL is used in protein chromatography, affinity chromatography and specialty resins. Polymyxin B- 6B-CL has been used to study periodontitis and endodontic infections as well as obesity and type 2 diabetes. Polymyxin B- 6B-CL is also used for the removal of endotoxin levels in protein solutions, cell culture media, ascites.
