Prostaglandin E1 is a primary prostaglandin produced endogenously from dihomo-γ-linolenic acid which acts as an agonist at PGE2 (EP) receptors. Displays vasodilatory, antiplatelet and antihypertensive activities. Clinically useful agent for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAD).
