Cytochalasin D is a cell-permeable fungal toxin, 10-fold more effective than Cytochalasin B. Binds to barbed end of actin filaments, inhibiting the association and dissociation of subunits.
Does not inhibit monosaccharide transport across cell membranes. Cytochalasin D is reported to exhibit antitumor activity, and induce apoptosis.
