Piceatannol is a selective protein tyrosine kinase Syk inhibitor (IC50~10 M). In RBL-2H3 cells the selective inhibition of Syk by piceatannol results in inhibition of Fc R1-mediated signaling.
Picetannol also works as an activator of human deacetylase SIRT1. A natural stilbene and an analogue of Resveratrol. Piceatannol exhibits potential anticancer properties as shown by its ability to suppress proliferation of a wide variety of tumor cells, including leukemia, lymphoma, cancers of the breast, prostate, colon, and melanoma.
Also inhibits JAK-1 and Syk kinase; blocks adipogenesis of 3T3-L1 preadipocytes in a dose-dependent manner. Originally isolated from Euphorbia lagascae.
