Cell permeable, very sensitive and specific chemiluminescence probe of the superoxide anion and peroxynitrite. When oxidized by oxygen it illuminates blue light at 446nm when Ca2+ binds to the complex. Coelenterazine was originally isolated from Aequorea victoria. Many of the coelenterazine analogs possess properties different from those of native coelenterazine. These include half-life, aequorin regeneration rate, luminescence capacity, emission maximum and membrane permeability.
Applications:
• gene reporter assays
• whole animal assays
• biochemical assays
• live-cell assays for the detection of calciem ions
