Diaphorase (NADPH) a nitric oxide synthase, is an oxidative enzyme present in a discrete population of interneurons. It has demonstrated selectivity labeling number of discrete populations of neurons throughout the nervous system. This technique has been used In many neuropathological studies and experiments.
Diaphorase NADPH histochemistry provides a specific histochemical marker for neurons producing nitric oxide. This method has been used to examine neurons in Huntington disease, Alzheimer disease, progressive supranuclear palsy, and ischemia. The source of Diaphorase NADPH is Bacillus megaterium bacteria.
