Calphostin C is a potent and selective inhibitor of protein kinase C (PKC). Calphostin C inhibits PKC by interacting with the regulatory DAG binding site and phorbol ester binding site. Inhibition is light dependent.
Calphostin C also inhibits Phospholipase D1 and D2 and is reported to induce apoptotic DNA fragmentation and cell death; kills breast cancer cells.
