Hexaammineruthenium (III) Trichloride, also known as RHT, is a redox probe that has been used in the determination of serotonin in the intestinal tract.
RHT can be used to treat cartilage tissue to prevent detachment of chondrocytic plasmalemmata from pericellular matrix and the aqueous extraction of proteoglycans during the subsequent fixation procedures.
Applications:
- Used as an electron mediator for rapid whole blood glucose detection
- Electron mediator in inexpensive referenced Electrochemical Paper-based Analytical Devices (rEPADs)
- Chemographic signals from RHT can be used as an indicator of aggrecan concentration in cartilage.
