Potent inhibitor of protein phosphatases, especially protein phosphatases 1 and 2 classes. Also used as a tumor promoter. CD45 regulates retention, motility, and numbers of hematopoietic progenitors, and affects osteoclast remodeling of metaphyseal trabecules. Isolated from Prorocentrum concavum. Okadaic acid is a toxin that accumulates in bivalves and causes diarrheal shellfish poisoning.
