Immunosuppressive agent Mycophenolic acid (MPA) inhibits inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase. It selectively inhibits lymphocyte proliferation by blocking the enzyme, inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, part of in the guanosine monophosphate pathway. It has been tested extensively in renal transplant patients and has been shown to be effective in reducing the incidence of acute graft rejection.
